ANCHORAGE (KTUU) A dozen food recalls have impacted Alaska this month, pushing grocery stores across the state to pull numerous things off their shelves.
The most extensive of the three recalls encompasses the possibility of listeria contamination.
Three states happen to be changed, 8 individuals happen to be hospitalized and there is been two departures, and we could discover that products remembered for listeria did come to Alaska, said Lhotka.
Although listeria can be fatal the Alaska Office of Epidemiology said, it is hardly common in Alaska. Without any recorded departures, there was just one recorded instance of listeria in the state, in 2015.
State officials said the recalls are being monitored by specialists carefully, but the established amount of risk hasn’t yet needed a door to door review to ensure grocery stores have pulled all possibly tainted products off their shelves. Based on Mike Cooper with the Public Health Infectious Disease Program, local grocery stores usually do an excellent job of clearing the shelves themselves.
